The federal high court in Abuja has set aside an order for the arrest of Edison Ehie, Chief of Staff to River State governor, Sim Fubara.
Justice Emeka Nwite also set aside the arrest warrant on Jinjiri Bala, Happy Bennett, Progress Joseph, Adokiye Oyagiri and Chibuike Peter, for their alleged involvement in the burning of the state’s House of Assembly and attempted murder.
The Chief of Staff and others were dragged before the court for act of terrorism, and shortly after the charge was filed against them, they were declared wanted by the court.
But in an order of the court sighted by AIT, Justice Nwite, set aside the order of arrest on grounds that the order was made without jurisdiction.
The counsel for the respondents, Oluwole Aladedoye, had argued that the court should stay execution of the judgement pending the hearing and determination of the motion seeking to set aside their warrant of arrest.
The motions filed by Adedoye urged the court to set aside the arrest warrant as well as restrain the police from carrying out the order pending the determination of the case.
