President Bola Tinubu in the early hours of Friday met with the Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, along with Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule, and other lawmakers.

The closed-door meeting was held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Sources in the Presidency told ait.live that the President was able to broker Peace between the parties marking a significant breakthrough in reconciliation efforts, signaling an end to the lingering political crisis in the oil-rich state.

Photographs released after the talks showed President Tinubu, Governor Fubara, and Minister Wike smiling together, indicating a new found camaraderie.

Sources close to the presidency revealed that the meeting helped reconcile the factions involved in the dispute, which had paralyzed governance in Rivers State since March 18, when President Tinubu declared a state of emergency and suspended the governor, his deputy, and the state House of Assembly.

FCT minister Nyesome Wike spoke to Correspondents after the meeting.

He said ” We have all agreed to work together with the governor, and the governor also agreed to work together with all of us. We are members of the same political family.

Yes, just like humans, you have a disagreement, and then you also have a time to also settle your disagreement. And that has been finally concluded today, and we have come to report to Mr. President, that is what we have agreed so for me, everything is over. I enjoin everybody who believe to work with us, to also work together with everybody that there’s no more acrimony. There’s nothing to say.

The reconciliation is expected to restore stability and functionality to the state’s government, allowing for the smooth implementation of policies and projects.
