Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara says the protection of lives and happiness of the people will remain top priorities of his administration.
Governor Fubara said this during the commissioning of the newly rebuilt headquarters of the Rivers State Fire Service.
The Governor also made a number of other pledges, including defending the constitution and ensuring that projects and services are equally distributed across the state.
Rivers State for some time has been without any functional fire service station or firefighting equipment.

Residents have had to depend on oil multinationals operating in the state when fire incidents occur
The other two, at Rumuodomaya and the old Port Harcourt township of Borikiri, will soon be commissioned.
He commended the men and women of the Rivers State Fire Service for the commitment they have shown and urged them to make optimum use of the facilities now available
