Rivers Government Distributes Final Batch Of Relief Materials To Flood Victims

RIVERS

The Rivers State Government, through its flood prevention committee, has distributed the final batch of relief materials to flood victims across all the 18 local government areas in the floods prediction list of NIMET.

The state deputy Governor, Prof. Ngozi Ordu, who also chairs the flood committee, announced that additional post-flood interventions will be distributed to victims in the coming weeks to support those affected by the floods and help them recover from the disaster

The Rivers State Flood Prevention Committee, headed by Deputy Governor Prof. Ngozi Ordu has been distributing relief materials to 18 local government areas affected by the 2024 flood disaster.

The committee has also provided aid to the victims, with the latest batch of relief materials distributed among the affected areas, under strict supervision.

The relief items included rice, garri, and noodles, as well as bedding and other essentials.

In addition to the current distribution, the committee said plans are being made to provide post-flood intervention, including seedlings and healthcare services, to support the victims in their recovery.

The efforts of the committee are part of a broader initiative to address the impact of flooding in Rivers State.

The chairman of the committee prof, Ngozi Ordu, and members of the committee inspected some drainage systems which have either been distilled or dredged for free flow of erosion during the rainy season.
