Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara

Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara has threatened to deal decisively with any traditional ruler, individual, or group who sabotages any government project.

Speaking when he met with the people of Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni on Saturday, the Governor says such actions are not only harmful and inimical to growth, but also result in the loss of not billions of Naira spent on projects that end up not being completed.

The Governor’s guests gathered at the Government House Port Harcourt including political leaders, traditional rulers, youths, and women from Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni local government area of Rivers State, South-South Nigeria.

Governor Fubara has summoned them over reports that the contractor handling the construction of the dualization of the Omoku-Egbema road has been sent packing. The project was awarded in 2007 but was abandoned after several billions of Naira had been paid to the former contractor.

However, owing to the importance of the road to the people, the immediate past administration of Nyesom Wike decided to re-award the contract to a reputable contractor. In line with its mantra of “Consolidation and Continuity”, the Fubara administration is working hard to ensure its completion.

Governor Fubara is, however, not happy with efforts being made scuttle the good intentions of his administration.

He, therefore, wants the people to give the contractor the support needed to complete the road project that will be of immense benefit to them.

On their part, the people of Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni local government area deny sending the contractor packing from site.

They are instead accusing the contractor of cutting corners. After listening to the people, the Governor vows to ensure that the contractor delivers a project that will meet the best standard.

The Rivers Governor also wants the Commissioner for Works to keep a close eye on the project in order to ensure that the contractor abides by the terms of the agreement.
