Organizers of the first Rivers International Marathon say all is now set for the race tagged Run Rivers Beyond Crude on 1st June 2024.
The 20kilometre race is scheduled to start at 7am from the Sharks stadium, former Civic Centre and terminate at the Yakubu Gowon stadium
Addressing newsmen in Port Harcourt, Chairman, media sub planning committee, Idah Peterside said there will be two categories of runners of the elite athletes both foreign and indigenous will compete in the 42km full race while 5km will be for amateurs.
According to Femi Abegunde of ArchRaphael, marketing agency and promoter, the welfare and safety of the athletes have been adequately taken care of following months of planning.
The first lady of the state, Valerie Fubara is expected to flag off the event that will also have the governor of Rivers State.
