The Chairman of the Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ambassador Desmond Akawo has described the process leading to the election of party candidates for Council election as an improvement on previous processes.
Akawo attributed the improvement to the leadership style of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.
He added that the exercise was delayed by few days due to the Covid-19 pandemic and debunked reports that there was a bomb blast at the party’s Secretariat on Thursday.
The Rivers State PDP and the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, are the last political parties to conduct their primaries ahead of Council Polls in the State.
With councillorship primaries already conducted and the screening of the chairmanship concluded, Chairman of the Rivers State PDP described the process as a plus ascribing it to the ingenuity of Governor Wike.
