RIVERS
Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers state

The Rivers elders and leaders forum has described the recent peace deal brokered between Governor SIM fubara and Minister of the federal Capital Territory,FCT, Nyesom Wike and his loyalists by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in an eight point proclamation as lopsided and skewed in favour of the FCT Minister.

Leader of the group, former Governor of Rivers state,Rufus Ada-George,who stated this during a press briefing lamented that the lawmakers recognised by court were not represented at the meeting and wondered where Mr. President derived his powers from, to coerce and direct a democratically elected governor to do his bidding at the detriment of the state .

They also wondered why President Tinubu wants to reinstate lawmakers who lost their seats after jumping to another party willingly.

The elders further described the proclamation which governor Fubara has accepted to implement during his Christmas day broadcast as a death sentence.

They urged governor Fubara not to implement the presidential proclamation because he is not constitutionally bound by President Tinubu’s directives.

The group claimed that it was wrong for Mr.President to have said lawmakers who have lost their seats by virtue of their defection were at liberty to sit anywhere for plenary without the inputs of the executive.
