The Rivers State Administrator,
Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas (rtd), has appointed Professor Ibibia Lucky Worika as the new Secretary to the State
Government (SSG).
Until his appointment, Professor Worika was the Director of the Centre for Advanced Law Research at Rivers State University, while he had previously served as Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Port Harcourt.
According to a statement signed by the Chief of Staff to the Rivers State Administrator, the appointment of Prof. Worika followed
careful consideration of his credentials, extensive experience, and performance during a rigorous selection process.
In another development, the Head of the Civil Service, Dr George Nweke, has resigned from his appointment.

In the interim, the Permanent Secretary in charge of Welfare in the office of the Head of Service, Dr. Iyingi Brown, has been appointed in an acting capacity until a new Head of Service is appointed.
While congratulating her on the appointment, the Rivers State Administrator also used the opportunity to assure the people of the State of his commitment to neutrality, peace and stability.
