Rivers State CJ Constitutes Election Petitions Tribunal, Appeals Panel For Council Polls

The Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Simeon Chibuzor Amadi has inaugurated the Rivers State Local Government Election Petitions Tribunal as well as the Appeals Panel to hear the petitions arising from the just concluded Council elections in the State

In a statement by the Chief Registrar of Rivers State High Court, David Ihua-Maduenyi stated the Local Government Election Petitions Tribunal and the Appeal Panel which was earlier billed to be inaugurated on Friday, 4th of October 2024 has been inaugurated on Monday, 7th of October, 2024.

The statement pointed out that the Tribunal is split into three Panels while the Appeal Panel is just one Panel.

According to the statement, those in the first Local Government Election Petitions Tribunal Panel are, Chief Magistrate Rosemary N. Ibanibo as the Chairman while Precious Dike and Emmanuel Evans-Dappa serve as members.

The second Election Petitions Tribunal is headed by Chief Magistrate Menenen Poromon as Chairman while Grace Ikenyiri and Benedict Neenador Kinaka serve as members.

The third Election Petitions Tribunal has Chief Magistrate Betty Sunny-Hart as the Chairman, G. S. Minanyo and Mabel Amesi are members.

The statement further stated that Justice Opufaa Ben-Whyte will be the Chairman of the Local Government Election Appeals Panel while Justice Frank Onyiri and Justice Ibietela Madighi-Obu are to serve as members of the Appeal Panel.

The statement quoted the Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice as advising Chairmen and members of both the Election Petitions Tribunal and Appeal Panel to be fair to all parties concerned and to discharge their duties with the fear of God.
