The Rivers State Executive Council has approved the sum of seventy-four point nine billion naira for various contracts, including the reconstruction of the State House of Assembly Auditorium gutted by fire in October last year.
Other contracts approved by the state executive council are the completion of the four zonal hospitals across the State, renovation of the general hospital in Bonny local government area, upgrade of the of neuropsychiatric hospital, Rumuigbo as well as the construction of a new general hospital at Rumuigbo in Obio-Akpor local government area.
The House of Assembly was gutted by fire in October 2023 in the heat of the political crisis between Governor Fubara and former Governor Wike.
The Fubara administration pulled down the structure in December that same year after experts had declared the building unsafe for use.
Another contract approved by the Rivers State Executive Council was the construction of the 5.75 kilometre Kalaibiama-Epellema Road, with a 450-meter length bridge
