The Rivers State Governor, Similaye Fubara has announced that total rehabilitation work of all the fire service stations in Port Harcourt, the State capital is ongoing.

Governor Fubara said the aim is to ensure that an equipped and effective Fire service department is in place to respond to fire and other related emergencies swiftly.

After inspecting some of the Fire service stations, the Governor told Journalists that all three fire service stations would be ready by March, 2025.

Of late, fire incidents have almost become a daily occurrence in Nigeria, .

These incidents, many of which are avoidable have led to the loss of lives and property.

The situation has also been made worse by the fact that the majority of the Agencies that are saddled with the responsibility of providing fire protection and safety services are poorly equipped and neglected.

In response to these safety needs, the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has been working hard to change the narrative by addressing the situation.

The Governor on Monday inspected level of work at the Mile One Fire service station, close to the Isaac Boro Park in Port Harcourt, the sub-station at Rumuodomaya in Obio Akpor Local Government Area, and the Fire service station located at the old Port Harcourt township of Borikiri.

The Fubara administration said it has also spent billions of Naira in procuring the necessary firefighting and rescue equipment, including trucks.

And in keeping with his mantra of ‘Rivers People First’, Governor Fubara says his administration will stop at nothing to protect lives and property in the State.

He also called on well-meaning individuals and organisations to support his administration’s efforts to make Rivers State safe for all.
