Rivers State Government has hosted state banquet in honour of retired Justice Owupele Daniel-Kalio, who is the immediate past Presiding Judge of the Court of Appeal, Asaba Division, in Delta State, South-South Nigeria.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who led top government officials and members of the judiciary in celebrating the jurist, applauded Justice Daniel-Kalio’s integrity, courage, and unwavering commitment to upholding justice in Nigeria.

He described the retired justice’s years on the bench as a testament to discipline, fairness, and fidelity to the rule of law.

It was an evening of honour for an illustrious son of Rivers State, a jurist widely respected for his depth of knowledge and uncompromising stance on justice.

Justice Daniel-Kalio bows out of active judicial service after attaining the mandatory retirement age, drawing the curtains on a distinguished career on the bench.

The banquet attracts dignitaries from across the country, including eminent Justices of the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal, both serving and retired.

Over the years, Justice Daniel-Kalio served the country with loyalty, fairness, and a profound commitment to the rule of law.

For the Rivers State Government, the banquet is a symbolic gesture and show of appreciation for a successful career and a tribute to a son who has made the state proud.

Governor Fubara notes that, though retired from the bench, Justice Daniel-Kalio still has much to contribute to the society, assuring that his administration will continue to draw from his wealth of experience and counsel.

The Governor urges Rivers State people and Nigerians at large to emulate the retired jurist’s impeccable career by always standing on the side of truth and justice.

Governor Fubara reiterates that the vision of his administration remains to build a peaceful, united, and prosperous Rivers State, anchored on fairness and respect for the rule of law.

Responding, an emotional Justice Daniel-Kalio expresses deep gratitude for the honour, saying Rivers State has been good to him in ways he cannot repay.

As he bows out of active judicial service, Governor Fubara prays that the next chapter of Justice Daniel-Kalio’s life will bring continued fulfilment and greater opportunities to inspire generations within and beyond the legal community.
