Women in Rivers State have used this year’s Valentine’s Day celebration to offer prayers for peace and unity, commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for embracing reconciliation in the overall interest of the state.
The event which took place at the popular Isaac Boro Park in Port Harcourt also offered intercessory prayers for the nation’s leaders, families, and the future of Rivers State.
The colourful gathering brought together hundreds of women from across the 23 local government areas of Rivers State.
Clad in white and red to symbolise love and peace, the women converged in unity, lifting prayers for Rivers State and Nigeria.
With the theme titled “For the Love of State and Country,” the event redefines Valentine’s Day beyond romance, focusing instead on faith, patriotism, and collective responsibility toward nation-building.
With special focus on Rivers State, participants commend President Bola Tinubu, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for choosing dialogue and peaceful coexistence over prolonged political tension.
They note that unity among leaders remains critical to the state’s stability, sustainable development, and economic growth.
They also emphasise that women must continue to serve as pillars of spiritual and moral strength within their families and communities.
According to women, genuine love for Rivers State and Nigeria must be expressed not only in words but also through sustained prayers, unity of purpose, and service to humanity.
The women concluded with a collective pledge to remain ambassadors of peace, unity, and progress in their homes, communities, and across Rivers State.
