An unidentified woman has lost her life following an accident around Mile 2 area of Lagos in the early hours of Friday.
The accident involved a tanker with registration number KSF 260 XY loaded with 55,000 (fifty-five thousand) litres of PMS (Petrol) which rammed into a pothole directly in front of the Nigerian Army Signal Barracks and fell sideways, resulting in its contents spilling out onto the road.
The tanker driver and his assistant were said to have immediately fled the scene.
The Director-General,Lagos State Emergency Management Agency LASEMA,
who confirmed the incident said the deceased who was seated beside the tanker drivers was trapped and pinned to dashboard from the impact of the tanker head.
The Agency’s heavy-duty equipment (Crane) is at the scene to recover the tanker together with its contents. Trans loading of the contents is on hold until the ownership of the tanker and/or product can be determined.
The LRU firefighters, the Lagos State Fire Service and the Nigerian Army are on standby to arrest any potential secondary incident.
