In a bid to contribute their quota to tackling Insecurity in the Country, the Conference of Directors and Chief Road Traffic Officers of the federation have unanimously agreed to digitize their operations across the country.

They stated this at the 2024 national conference, which has as its theme, standardization and harmonization of vehicle testing and licensing, the most vital instrument for motor vehicle administration in Nigeria, held in Minna, the Niger State capital.

Participants at the conference agree that the major concern of road traffic officers was the issue of insecurity and how best to use their operations in collaboration with other agencies to bring about peace, security and roadworthy vehicles.

The national chairman of the directors, Paul Bepeh, represented by Abdullateef Bello, said the time has come for the adoption of an enhanced strategy and tool to meet the highest standards of service and safety.

He further tasked states with the need to ensure there is no fragmented motor vehicle administration where inspection and licensing systems are managed by multiple agencies.

The Niger State sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Kumar Tsukwam represented by the Deputy Corps Commander, Abdullahi Ibrahim, promised to give their support.

The Executive Director of the Niger State motor vehicle administration agency, Bako Danladi and the transportation commissioner, Hadiza Kuta, acknowledged the challenge of harmonization and standardization, saying the conference will address such gaps.

A communique is expected at the end of the 2 day conference which will be a pathway towards having harmonized and standardized vehicle testing and licensing across the country.
