Robbers attack bullion van again in Ondo, kill two persons

Two persons including a mobile policeman and one civilian were this Wednesday shot dead by gunmen suspected to be armed robbers during an attack on a bullion van in Ore, in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The latest incident is the second within two weeks that bullion vans would be attacked by suspected armed robbers in the state.

The incident, according to an eye witness occured at Asejire, few kilometers from Ore in Odigbo Local Government of the State.

Confirming the incident,the spokesperson of the Ondo state police command, Olufunmi Odunlami said the driver of the bullion van was also killed while two other policemen who were injured in the process are currently receiving treatment at a hospital.

Odunlami said the bullion van was conveying money from Benin before it ran into the hail of bullets of the suspected armed robbers who had laid ambush for them.

She said the daredevil men succeeded in carting away an undisclosed amount of money in the Van.

The police spokesperson however said the command is already on the trail of the robbers.
