RSIEC set for Saturday’s LG polls

Ahead of Saturday’s Chairmanship and Councilorship elections in Rivers State, the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, (RSIEC) said it has concluded the distribution of sensitive and non-sensitive materials across the 23 Local Government Areas of the State.

The Chairman of the electoral commission, Justice George Omereji confirmed to Journalists in Port Harcourt that his agency was set for the election.

The distribution exercise was conducted under the strict supervision of security agencies, political party agents and officials of the commission.

Omereji also expressed satisfaction with the feedback from members of the various political parties regarding the distribution exercise, adding that the process will remain transparent.

He assured members of the public safety before, during and after the election with the deployment of security over 17,000 security officials to secure the election in all the 23 local government areas of the state.
