Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima says the country is now at a new dawn to chart and reposition its destiny for greatness.
Shettima who said this while addressing political and business leaders at the second plenary session of the Russia-Africa Summit holding in the Russian city of St. Petersburg on Friday, pointed out that with the measures deployed by the Tinubu administration are designed to diversify the economy and address emerging challenges.
Nigeria’s number two man said government is taking decisive steps to fight crime, punish offenders, directly tackle the insurgency, and do everything necessary to secure lives and investments in the country, and is determined to consolidate on industrializing Nigeria and diversifying its economy into sectors where country has a comparative advantage.

On the crisis between Russia and Ukraine, the vice president described the situation as unfortunate, adding that Nigeria remains non-aligned in any conflict situation, but remains deeply concerned about the potential impact of the crisis on global peace and security.

In his remarks, Russian President, Vladimir Putin paid glowing tributes to Africa’s founding fathers, acknowledging their contributions to the development of the continent, President Putin who spoke on a wide range of areas of cooperation between both countries, including security and defence, commerce, agriculture and climate agenda, reiterated his country’s commitment to the full economic transformation of the African continent.
17 African Heads of State, 5 Vice Presidents, 10 Heads of government, business leaders from Russia, Africa and beyond, are attending the second edition of the summit.
