England international of Nigerian descent, Bukayo Ayoyinka Saka, has signed a new five-year contract with Arsenal, committing his future to the North London club until 2031.
The 24-year-old forward’s new deal is widely reported in British media to make him the highest-paid player at the club, with wages believed to be in excess of £300,000 per week.
Negotiations over an extension had been ongoing for nearly a year, with Saka said to have verbally agreed to the terms back in January.
His previous contract was due to expire in 2027.
The extension represents a major statement of intent from Arsenal as manager Mikel Arteta continues to build a squad capable of sustained domestic and European success.
By securing Saka’s long-term future, the Gunners have ensured that one of their most influential and consistent performers will remain central to their project during his prime years.
Saka, a product of Arsenal’s Hale End academy, has developed into one of the Premier League’s most decisive attackers, known for his creativity, versatility and composure in big matches. Since breaking into the first team as a teenager, he has become a key figure for both club and country, earning widespread praise for his maturity and leadership on the pitch.
The contract boost comes at a crucial stage of the season. Arsenal are currently four points clear at the top of the Premier League and are set to face Manchester City in the EFL Cup final next month.
They have also progressed to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League and remain in contention in the FA Cup.
Saka’s renewal follows a series of long-term extensions at the club, with William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes, Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly also committing their futures.
The move underlines Arsenal’s strategy of tying down key players as they aim to compete consistently for major honours in the coming years.
