The National President of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, ASCSN, Tommy Okon has called on the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages commission to abide by the statutory provision which mandates the commission to regularly review salaries and wages based on prevailing inflationary trend at any given point in time.
Okon who was represented by the Deputy Secretary General of the Association, Igbokwue Chukwuma made the call in Ilorin the Kwara State capital during the third Quadrennial Delegates Conference on Thursday.
Represented by Deputy Secretary General of the Association, Igbokwue Chukwuma, Tommy Okon while raising concerns over the failure of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission to advise government on review of wages and salaries of workers, maintained that one of the primary duties of the Commission is to advise the Federal Government on timely review of salaries and wages of Nigerian workers.

Okon also frowned at the 8,000 naira palliatives previously proposed by government insisting that Labour is in the best position to know what value should be placed on any form of palliatives and not government.
The association also promised to continue it’s engagement with critical stakeholders in finding ways to quicken all processes that will guarantee job security and welfare of it’s members.
