Saudi Arabia Marks 94th National Day, Deepens Ties with Nigeria

The kingdom of Saudi Arabia says it will Deepen ties with Nigeria.

The Saudi ambassador to Nigeria, Faisal bin Ebraheem Alghamdi, said this as he marked the 94th Saudi Arabia National Day celebrations in Abuja, Nigeria”s Capital.

Government officials, heads of diplomatic missions, representatives of international organisations, and prominent businessmen gathered at the Saudi Arabia embassy in Abuja to celebrate the 94th National Day of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The host of the evening, Alghamdi reflected on 94 years since the unification of Saudi Arabia by King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud, creating a “strong and stable entity grounded in a tolerant Islamic creed that upholds values of equality, justice, and confidence.

He commended the long-standing relationship between Saudi Arabia and Nigeria, which has lasted over 63 years and has been strengthened by several bilateral agreements.

Alghamdi reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s dedication to supporting hajj and umrah for Nigerian pilgrims.

He noted that the Kingdom in 2023 facilitated the pilgrimage of 120,000 Nigerians for umrah and 65,000 for hajj.

The envoy said the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has offered 260 scholarships to Nigerian students, both male and female, further enhancing educational exchange between the two countries.

He also revealed that trade volume between Saudi Arabia and Nigeria stands at $600 million, reflecting the deep economic ties between the two nations.

The ambassador highlighted Saudi Arabia’s humanitarian work, such as the Nur-Saudi voluntary project, which has provided medical assistance, including the successful separation of conjoined Nigerian twins.
