Primary and Secondary Schools in Bauchi State have resumed for the continuation of the second term academic session, after five weeks of controversial Ramadan Fasting Holidays in Bauchi State, Northeast Nigeria.
School children have been seen in their school uniforms going to their various schools since Monday this week.
This follows the directives of the Bauchi State Ministry of Education for schools to resume for the continuation of the second term.
In an interview with AIT, some proprietors of private schools said the five-week Ramadan holiday was an unscheduled one, which disrupted the curriculum of the school, especially for the Junior Secondary School, JSS 3, and the Senior Secondary School, SS 3 pupils.
According to some parents and school proprietors, the government should have considered the reduction of the school hours, rather than outright closure, to avoid disruption of the learning process for the children.
Reacting to the issues raised, the Bauchi State Commissioner for Education, Mohamed Rimin Zayam, said the pupils did not miss any lessons as a result of the Ramadan holiday, as e-learning was incorporated to fill the gaps.
