Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, says the collaboration between the federal government and states is the driving wheel to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs.
Governor Diri was speaking on at the inauguration of a 100-bed mother and child hospital and a skills acquisition centre built through partnership between the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs and the state’s SDGs office.
Located in Azikoro community, the state of the art health facility is named after the wife of the President, Aisha Buhari.

The two storey building with a 100 bed capacity is built to improve the health needs of Bayelsa people particularly in reducing infant and maternal mortality rate.
The hospital also houses equipment such as the ultra scan room, 15 Intensive Care Units for both children and mothers, laboratories among other facilities.
The Governor also commissioned a skills acquisition and entrepreneurial centre and two blocks of furnished 24 classrooms at Sampou, his hometown, designed to equip the youths to be self-sufficient in life.
