Worried by the recent surge in killings and kidnappings in the South-Eastern part of the country, the five state Governors of the zone, have risen from a virtual meeting where they agreed to form a zonal security patrol team before the end of the 2021 year.
Chairman of Southeast Governors Forum and Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi who briefed Journalists at the end of the meeting says the arrangement, is part of measures to ensure greater protection of all residents in the zone.
While noting that the security situation in the zone was being made worse by activities of some desperate politicians, the Governors want the leaders of South east extraction to rise up above political sentiments and condemn such acts.

According to Umahi, the Governors of the southeast zone at the meeting passed a vote of confidence on the Nnia Nwodo led Ohanaeze Ndigbo social-cultural organization and expressed their commitment towards the electoral process that will usher in new leadership for the organization on the 10th of January, 2021.
