A heavy security presence was witnessed at the gate of the Chanchaga local government secretariat in the early hours of Monday morning.
This is ahead of the supposed schedule resumption of the suspended chairman of the local government, Aminu Ladan, after a court order reinstating him as the chairman, stating that his earlier suspension was illegal.
According to sources in the area, the premises of the Secretariat were barricaded as early as 6am on Monday with men of the Nigerian police attached with other security apparatus all manning the gate and creating traffic along the stadium road axis.
It could be recalled that the Aminu Ladanhad recently suspended the chairman, Aminu Ladan, for gross misconduct and other activities, while the ousted chairman had gone to court to get an order restraining him from suspension.

The embattled chairman’s perceived crime was challenging the 3-year tenure as against 4 years as declared by the Supreme Court, even though he did not secure a return ticket for the upcoming November local government elections.
The legal suit seems not to have gone down well with some government loyalists who claimed he had sued the state governor, but from the suit, the defendants are, the attorney general of Niger State, the Niger State House of Assembly, the Independent National Electoral Commission, the Niger state Independent Electoral Commission, and the Inspector General of Police.
