In an effort to ensure a peaceful and crime-free festive season in Imo State, South-East Nigeria, the Joint Security Taskforce has deployed operatives to flash points across the State.
The authorities told ait.live that the strategic operation is to secure lives and property of citizens before, during, and after the festivities.
Speaking at a confidence-building patrol at the Ndubuisi Kanu Square in Owerri, the Imo State capital, the Commander, 34 Artillery Brigade Obinze, Brigadier General Usman Lawal, charged the officers to exhibit professionalism and shun all forms of corrupt practices and misconduct, rather they should discharge their duties diligently.
He urged the residents to go about their lawful duties, assuring them that the yuletide season would be peaceful and free of any form of molestation.
According to the Security Chiefs, partnering with stakeholders and the traditional rulers in the State will enable them share information at appropriate times and nip all the complaints in the bud.
