Niger State monarch, the Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Council of Traditional Rulers, Yahaya Abubakar, has reminded Nigerians that security is a collective responsibility of all law-abiding citizens and not of government alone.
The Etsu Nupe said this in his Wadata Palace in Bida, while receiving the Commissioner of Police for the state, CP Adamu Elleman, during a courtesy visit.
According to him, the task of providing security for lives and property of Nigerians should not be left to security agencies and the government alone.
In a statement by the spokesman of the police, Superintendent Wasi’u Abiodun, the Estu Nupe said all citizens, including himself, owe it a duty to assist the various security agencies in ensuring that they function effectively and diligently.

He promised the sustained support of the state’s traditional institutions to the police and other sister security agencies.
CP Abdullahi-Elleman urged the people to continue to give useful information to police personnel, to sustain the fight against crimes and criminality.
He appealed to the emir for prayers, both for himself and the state, in the light of the ongoing security challenges, while assuring the emirate and the larger state of his unwavering commitment to service.
Abubakar noted that security agencies need the sustained support and goodwill of Nigerians to carry out the onerous task of protecting lives and property of citizens.
