Stakeholders in the security sector in Ogun State, South-West Nigeria wants the State House of Assembly to enact law that will regulate the services of scrap metal scavengers, to secure the state from any kind of threat.
The stakeholders meeting which held in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital over the weekend raised the concern that must be addressed immediately to guarantee security of residents in the state.
One of the resolutions of the meeting facilitated by the Police Community Relations Committee PCRC, Adatan Royal Area Command is that a proper census of metal scavengers remains very important to ascertain the true identity of those involved in the business.

The Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC and other security agencies and stakeholders were represented at the meeting.
Metal scavenging ordinarily should be a legitimate business to recycle materials from waste to wealth but regrettably according to the security stakeholders, the business as become a security threat in Nigeria.
