Security: Military Rescues 22 kidnapped victims in Zamfara forest

The current military onslaught against recalcitrant bandits in Bakura Local Government Area of Zamfara State has again led to the rescue of twenty-two kidnapped persons.

The kidnapped victims include seven indigenes while sixteen are from Sokoto state and it is coming three days after the military rescued seventeen persons during its ongoing clearing operation at Waya, Gobirawa and Gabia communities in Anka Local Government Area of the state.

The commander 1 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Gusau, Brigadier General Olatokunbo Bello who handed over the kidnapped victims to the Zamfara State government on behalf of the Force Commander operation, Hadari Daji who is also the Acting General Officer Commanding 8 Division of the Nigerian Army, Sokoto, Brigadier General, Aminu Bande.

The Zamfara State Commissioner for security and Home Affairs, Abubakar Dauran who received the rescued captives on behalf of the state government, urged the military to continue to flush out recalcitrant bandits so as to restore peace in the state.

The rescued victims who spent between 1-3 weeks in the hands of their abductors, applauded the military’s efforts in fighting banditry in Zamfara State.
