The Niger state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), says it has arrested a suspect, Ibrahim Sule, in connection with a car snatching incident and attempted murder along Tegina Road in Rafi Local Government Area.

The commandant of the corps, Suberu Aniviye, revealed that three individuals were involved in the crime, while two other suspects remain at large and are currently being pursued by authorities.

Commandant Aniviye, who just assumed duty a few weeks ago, says the feat was achieved due to the high intelligence gathered and acted upon on September 6 by his men stationed at the Tegina division.

According to him, an investigation revealed that one of the suspects, Azi Muazu, allegedly drugged the vehicle’s owner to gain control of the car. But the victim survived the plot.

Aniviye further assured the public of the NSCDC’s commitment to safety, stating that the agency would work diligently to apprehend the remaining suspects and ensure they are brought to justice.

The commandant also emphasised the need for collaboration with other security agencies to maintain a crime-free environment under his leadership and vowed to secure the critical national assets in the state.

In an interview, the arrested suspect, Ibrahim Sule, claimed he boarded the vehicle as a passenger travelling from Lagos to Jos.

He denied being aware of the drugging of the vehicle’s owner but confirmed that the two suspects at large asked him to drive the car once the victim fell asleep.

Commandant Aniviye said that the investigation is ongoing and the suspect will be charged in court.
