A program to encourage more citizens to get on the voter register for the 2023 General elections has turned out into an open brawl between security operatives and those who had turned out for registration at the old parade ground in Abuja on Monday.
Trouble began when
security operatives could no longer handle the surging crowd of people who turned up to be registered.
The situation created a crowd management problem that resulted in an open clash between the security operatives and the restive crowd.
The crowd, mostly young people complained bitterly about the frustrating process to get themselves on the voter’s register.
A few of them were however lucky.
Those successfully registered will be issued temporary PVC slips which will admit them to a mega PVC concert on Saturday organized by the Independent National Electoral Commission In collaboration with the European Union.
The concert will also admit those who already have their PVCs.
A lineup of top artists and entertainers will headline the event.
