Security agencies in Ondo State, South-West Nigeria have intensified efforts to rid the state of criminal elements, launching a coordinated bush-combing operation across identified black spots in Akure North Local Government Area.
The joint operation, carried out on Monday, involved personnel from the Amotekun Corps, Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC, and Nigerian Army.
The team navigated dense forests on foot, as well as with motorbikes and vehicles, covering major routes within the forests in Akure North Local Government area of the State.
During the several-hour exercise, operatives reportedly dismantled and set ablaze suspected hideouts used by kidnappers and other criminal elements.
Two suspected kidnappers were also intercepted during the operation.
Speaking on the mission, Commander of Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, described the exercise as part of a sustained joint task force strategy aimed at flushing out criminals from the state’s forested areas.
