Senate affirms Dickson Akoh Sponsor of Peace Corps Bill

The Senate has affirmed Dickson Akoh as the sponsor of the bill which seeks to give legal backing to the existing Peace Corps of Nigeria passed by the two Chambers of the National Assembly as any other group laying claim to the proposed legislation is illegal

In a statement signed by the chairman senate committee on Army, Senator Ali Ndume who introduced the bill on the floor of the red chamber affirmed that Dickson Akoh-led Peace Corps is the authentic body that approached the Senate and the House of Representatives for consideration and passage of the bill.

He added that the attention of the leadership of the National Assembly has been drawn to different groups laying claims to the Bill which was transmitted to President Muhammadu Buhari for assent on the 12th April 2023

According to him, the proposed legislation if assent to, will give legal backing to the existing Peace Corps of Nigeria and renamed “Nigerian Peace Corps.” as a gove
