The Nigerian Senate has confirmed the nomination of Nnanna Uzor Kalu as Commissioner representing the South East in the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC).

This confirmation followed the consideration of a report by the Senate Committee on Establishment and Public Service, presented by its Chairman, Senator Cyril Fasuyi.

Senator Fasuyi explained that Kalu’s nomination was initially dropped due to a petition raised by the previous NASC Board.

He however clarified that the matter had since been investigated and resolved by the Committees on Code of Conduct and Public Petitions.

According to the Committee’s findings, the petition was found to lack merit, paving the way for his confirmation.

Following deliberations, the Senate voted in favor of Kalu’s appointment to the Commission.

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio charged the new appointee to approach the role with seriousness, ensuring equity, fairness, and strict adherence to the constitution in carrying out his duties.

Nnanna Uzor Kalu, a former two-term member of the House of Representatives is the younger brother of incumbent Senator Orji Uzor Kalu representing Abia North Senatorial district and the former Governor of Abia State.
