The Senate has issued a warrant of arrest to Managing Director of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc Peer Lubasch, for repeatedly failing to appear before its Committee on Works.
This decision follows a motion presented by the Senate Minority Whip, Senator Osita Ngwu (PDP, Enugu West), and co-sponsored by Senators Asuquo Ekpenyong (APC, Cross River South) and Mpigi Barinada (PDP, Rivers South East).
In the motion, Senator Ngwu highlighted that Julius Berger has consistently ignored requests to appear before the Committee to provide explanations regarding the abandonment of projects and the significant increase in contract costs, from N54 billion to N195 billion.
According to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the date for Julius Berger’s appearance before the Senate Committee on Works will be specified in the arrest warrant.
