The National Assembly has pledged its support in expediting legislative processes to ensure the speedy take-off of the Ondo Deep Seaport project, which is expected to reposition the state as one of Nigeria’s most promising investment hub.
President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, gave the assurance at the 2026 Ondo State Investment Summit, which witnessed the signing of Memoranda of Understanding, MoUs for the take-off of the Ondo Deep Seaport and establishment of fertilizer plant in Ilaje Local Government area of the state.

Akure, the Ondo state capital played host to the 2026 edition of the Ondo State Investment Summit which attracted technocrats, entrepreneurs, and investors from across the globe. They gathered to explore business opportunities as well as to strengthen partnerships aimed at repositioning Ondo State as a leading investment destination in Nigeria and Africa.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, while declaring the state open for investors, said the signing of the MoUs signals a decisive economic shift for Ondo State from a consumption-driven economy to a production-oriented hub.

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, represented by Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, pledged the National Assembly’s commitment to fast-track legislative action on any bill that will facilitate the timely take-off of the Deep Seaport project to drive regional economic growth.
Observers say that if diligently implemented, the Ondo Deep Seaport project will create jobs, stimulate industrial expansion, and further strengthen the economy of the Sunshine State.
