The Senate has named former Senate Leader in the 9th Assembly, Abdullahi Yahaya, as the new Chairman of the Senate Committee on National Intelligence.

Senator Yahaya, who represents Kebbi North on the platform of APC, replaces Senator Buba Shehu, who was relieved of the position over alleged inefficiency.

The Vice Chairman of the Committee remains Senator Solomon Olamilekan (APC, Ogun West).

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio also announced that the former Chairman of the Committee, Senator Buba Shehu, has been reassigned as Chairman, Senate Committee on Livestock Development.

In a related development, the Senate named the Minority Whip, Senator Osita Ngwu, as Acting Chairman, Senate Committee on Air Force, which was dissolved last week over inefficiency.

Additionally, Senator Musa Mustapha of (APC, Yobe East) has been appointed Chairman, Senate Committee on National Planning.

The Senate said the reshuffling of Committees is aimed at improving efficiency, strengthening oversight functions, and enhancing efforts to ensure the security and wellbeing of all Nigerians.
