The Nigerian Senate has stripped Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, of his position as Chief Whip of the 10th Senate.
This decision follows a letter signed by APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje and National Secretary Ajibola Bashiru, tagged “Complains of the unbecoming utterances of Senator Ali Ndume read by the President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio during Wednesday’s plenary.
In the letter, the APC allege that Ndume had described the government of President Bola Tinubu as being “run by thieves.” adding that Ndume’s comments were aimed to incite and propagate cheap politics, damaging the country and the party.

They urged Ndume to resign from the APC and join any opposition party instead of hiding behind “grass activism” to undermine its goodwill.
The Ruling party added that as a member of the caucus, they expected a more responsible and decorous behavior from him, but he has failed to meet these expectations.
The letter further reads that Ndume’s outburst against the Government before the international community harms the Government’s image and undermines the party’s unity, cohesion, and discourages foreign direct investment in Nigeria.
The party has replaced Senator Ndume with Senator Mohamed Mongono representing Borno North as the new majority whip of the Senate.
The decision was supported by members of the All Progressives Congress Senate Caucus through a voice vote.
