Senator Abdul Ningi has expressed heartfelt appreciation to his colleagues for his recall to legislative activities, after serving a 75-day suspension.
Speaking under Order 42 of the Senate Standing Rules, Ningi commended the Senate for the gesture, and thanked the Senate President for his kind words.
He also acknowledged the minority caucus for championing his recall, the ad hoc committee, Nigerians from across the country, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed and the people of Bauchi State, for their support during his suspension.
Ningi, who was in Turkey when he learned of his recall, emphasised that the National Assembly has become a second home for him, having served as House Leader and Deputy Senate Leader at different times.
He stressed that, despite past events, it’s time to move forward and focus on legislative business.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio welcomed Ningi back, acknowledging his valuable contributions to the 10th Senate, and describing him as a resourceful lawmaker.
Akpabio encouraged Ningi to put the past behind him, saying, “Let bygone be bygone.”
