With approximately Twenty Million Survivors, Nigeria according to figures from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) accounts for ten percent of the global two hundred Million Survivors of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence.

More worrisome is the fact that most Survivors often face significant challenges in accessing justice and support , a situation stakeholders say requires greater inter-agency collaboration especially with law enforcement agencies

Through the project, protecting women and girls from Sexual and Gender-Based Violence by way of challenges in behaviour, Practices and attitude of community members, the initiative of acquainting law enforcement officers with relevant knowledge and skills in handling SGBV cases in Alimosho, Ojo and Oshodi Local Government Council Development Areas in Lagos became necessary.

The project support by the Women’s Rights and Health Project ( WRAHP)and Women’s Development Funds will not only strengthen access to justice for Survivors, but also improve chances for social psycho support

Since the covid 19 lock down, Nigeria has continued to witness astronomical increase in Sexual and Gender-Based Violence with women and girls accounting for a larger percentage.
