The ongoing trial of Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James also known as Baba Ijebu over allegations of sexual assault against a minor suffered setback as the two witnesses for the prosecution team representing Lagos state government failed to turn up at the resumed trial friday.

Baba Ijesha is facing a six count charge bordering on alleged indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault, attempted sexual assault by penetration and sexual assault by penetration was arraigned before Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Lagos state Sexual offences and other related MATTERS COURT in Ikeja, Lagos where he pleaded not guilty to all the allegations.

Five witnesses so far have testified since the prosecution opened its case in August.
They include the complainant, comedienne, Damilila Adekoya popularly known as Princess and her 14year old foster daughter who was said to have been molested by the accused in 2014 and April 2021.
The prosecutor, Yusuf Sule, informed the court that one of the witnesses a police officer refused to testify while the other had been posted outside the jurisdiction of the court.
The defence team led by Kayode Olabiran did not object to the development adding even as the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Olayinka Adeyemi was said to have been informed earlier about the development.
Justice Taiwo in his reaction urged the prosecution team to put its house in order and adjourned further hearing till November 19 2021.
