Boko Haram terrorists reportedly on a mission to seize the power station in Shiroro have killed at least 17 security operatives and abducted four Chinese workers, according to government officials and local sources.
Details of the attack which occurred on Wednesday evening are just emerging with residents fleeing the area.

A total of 17 soldiers and police officers were reportedly killed, while four Chinese workers were seized during the assault by the terrorists..
The Niger State Government in a statement on Thursday, confirmed the abduction of the four Chinese nationals.
The government said reinforcement was dispatched to the area, without giving further details.
Ajata Aboki village where the incident occurred in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State in North-Central Nigeria is about 200 kilometres northwest of the Nigerian capital Abuja. The hydropower facility there contributes over 600 megawatts to the national power grid.
Efforts made to reach the Army spokesperson for comments proved abortive as he was not picking up calls.
