Scores of shop owners at the popular katako timber market in jos the Plateau state capital are counting their losses following late night fire incident that engulfed parts of the market in late hours of Sunday .

For the traders, losing their source of livelihood at this time when the nation is going through economic hardship is something they are still struggling to deal with.

Some lament the delay in response by the fire fighters, which led to the huge destruction, and are appealing to the state government to assist the traders whose goods and equipment were completely razed by the fire.

The cause of the fire outbreak still remains unknown, with some shop owners alleging that it was caused by an electric spark, but whatever the cause, the market, which has seen several fire incidents, is in dire need of remodelling.
