Six students of the Nasarawa state University Keffi, abducted by gunmen from the institution’s Gudi campus have regained their freedom after seven days in captivity.
The students were kidnapped on May 6, 2026, from the Faculty of Engineering area of the university’s off-campus site in Gudi, hometown of Governor Abdullahi Sule.
Confirming the development, the Nasarawa State Police Command said the victims were rescued following sustained intelligence-driven operations and coordinated tactical efforts by security operatives.
Police spokesperson Ramhan Nansel disclosed that two suspects, Abdullahi Yeyi Haro and Basiru Abdullahi were arrested during the operation.
According to him, the suspects, both residents of Gudi, were apprehended after painstaking investigations aimed at dismantling the kidnapping network behind the abduction.
Nansel added that the rescued students have reunited with their families and are currently receiving medical attention and psychological support following their ordeal.
State Commissioner of Police, Shetima Mohammed, praised the operatives for their professionalism and reaffirmed the command’s resolve to rid Nasarawa State of kidnappers and other criminal elements.
He also assured residents that investigations are ongoing to track down and arrest other fleeing members of the syndicate.
