The Social Democratic Party, SDP, is calling on Nigerians, civil society groups and pro-democracy advocates to resist what it describes as self-interest politics that undermine the will of the people.
The party is accusing the leadership of the 10th Senate of resisting key electoral reforms, particularly the electronic transmission of election results.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Araba Rufus Aiyenigba, the SDP said the Senate leadership is acting against the wishes of Nigerians by failing to provide clear legal backing for real-time electronic transmission of results.
The party noted that Nigerians overwhelmingly supported these reforms during the nationwide public hearings conducted by the Senate in 2025.

According to the SDP, technologies such as the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS, and the INEC Result Viewing Portal, IReV, are critical to reducing human error and preventing manipulation of results.
The party also maintained that INEC has the technical capacity to transmit results electronically and urged lawmakers to provide clear and unambiguous legal support.
Warning against a repeat of the credibility issues that followed the 2023 elections, the SDP called on Nigerians and civil society groups to remain vigilant as the 2027 polls approach.
