Wife of Nigerian President Oluremi Tinubu is soliciting the support of government at all levels, corporate bodies, and other well-meaning individuals to better the welfare of the elderly and vulnerable persons in the country
Speaking at the presentation of grants to 250 elderly persons from the 23 local government areas of Rivers States under her ‘Renewed Hope Initiative’ Oluremi Tinubu who was represented by the wife of the state governor Valerie Fubara says the country must learn to give priority to the welfare of elderly citizens as a mark of respect for their contributions
86-year-old Rose Uwom from Abua Odual local government area received a grant of one hundred thousand naira from the wife of the Rivers State Governor Valerie Fubara
The octogenarian is among the 250 elderly persons selected from the 23 local governments of the state to benefit from the ‘Elderly Support Scheme’ under the Renewed hope Agenda initiative of the wife of the Nigerian President Oluremi Tinubu
It’s an empowerment programme that seeks to alleviate the struggles of poor families and other vulnerable groups, including the elderly, widows, youths, and the physically challenged
The programme also provides free medical service
Valerie Fubara says her husband’s administration will spare no effort in deepening the benefits, which, the Renewed Hope Initiative brings
And like the wife of the president, Valerie Fubara is also urging well-meaning individuals and corporate bodies to support the needy
She further assured that more initiatives that would complement the ‘Renewed Hope Initiative’ will be unveiled by her husband’s administration
