Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in Sokoto state have been asked to immediately correct and resubmit their 2026 proposed budgets following bilateral discussions with the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning.
The state’s Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Muhammad Zayyana gave the charge at the end of budget discussion sessions held at the Ministry.
This is aimed at helping the Ministry move to the next level of the budgeting process, which is the consolidation of the entire MDAs’ proposals.
Zayyana noted that it is necessary to have a clear picture of the overall 2026 budget for the state, including overhead, recurrent, and capital expenditure.
According to him, the aim of the discussion session was to come up with a well-focused and realistic budget that aligns with the smart point agenda of the Ahmad Aliyu-led administration.
He said the views and aspirations of citizens would also be factored into the budget document before it is presented to the State Executive Council for approval and then transmitted to the State House of Assembly for legislative processes.
Earlier, the Head of Service, Alhaji Sulaiman S/Fulani, expressed his excitement with the commitment and innovations brought by the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning for a realistic and scientific budgeting for the state.

He described the discussions between his team and officials of the Ministry as robust and fruitful.
Bashir Muhammad Achida, the Economic Advisor to the governor said the discussions have clearly demonstrated that the Ministry of Budget is up and doing in justifying its responsibility of ensuring proper planning and budgeting inline with the government’s agenda and policies for the wellbeing of citizens.
The Economic Adviser to this end, gave a pass mark to the Budget’s Commissioner and his team, and expressed hope that the desired goal would be achieved.
