Sokoto State Governor, Ahmad Aliyu

Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in Sokoto state have been asked to immediately correct and resubmit their 2026 proposed budgets following bilateral discussions with the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning.

The state’s Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Muhammad Zayyana gave the charge at the end of  budget discussion sessions  held at the Ministry.

This is aimed at helping the Ministry  move to the next level  of the budgeting process, which is the consolidation of the entire MDAs’ proposals.

Zayyana noted that it is necessary to have a clear picture of the overall 2026 budget for the state, including overhead, recurrent, and capital expenditure.

According to him, the aim of the discussion session was to come up with a well-focused and realistic budget that aligns with the smart point agenda of the  Ahmad Aliyu-led administration.

He said the views and aspirations of citizens would also be factored into the budget document before it is presented to the State Executive Council for approval and then transmitted  to the State House of Assembly for legislative processes.

Earlier,  the Head of Service, Alhaji Sulaiman S/Fulani, expressed his excitement with the commitment and innovations brought by the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning for a realistic and scientific budgeting for the state.

The Economic Adviser to this end, gave a pass mark to the Budget’s Commissioner and his team, and expressed hope that the desired goal would be achieved.
