Members of the Committee to Assess the Progress of the 9-Point Smart Agenda in the state have been urged to think creatively and strategically on how to allocate resources efficiently and maximise impact.

The Chairman of the Committee and Deputy Governor of the state, Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir, made the plea while inaugurating members of the Committee at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Governor’s Office.

Alhaji Idris Gobir stated that every member of the Committee is expected to bring unique perspectives and invaluable expertise, noting that it is through collective cooperation that the desired objectives will be achieved.

The Deputy Governor explained that the 9-Point Agenda serves as the blueprint of the state government, hence the need for all hands to be on deck to ensure the actualisation of its targeted goals.

He expressed optimism that, given the calibre of members, the Committee would successfully deliver on its mandate.

The Vice Chairman of the Committee and Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr Abubakar Mohammed Zayyana, described the 9-Point Agenda as a social contract with the people of the state and a bold commitment to secure lives, empower the future, and build a foundation for sustainable and inclusive development.

Dr Zayyana noted that the occasion marked a critical transition from planning to actionable and coordinated implementation.

He urged members of the Committee to be guided by data, evidence, collective lived experiences, problem-solving, and unwavering commitment.

Also speaking, the Secretary of the Committee, who is the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works, Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed, enumerated the terms of reference of the Committee.

According to him, these include providing strategic policy direction and guidance for the effective implementation of the 9-Point Agenda; reviewing and approving comprehensive work plans, performance benchmarks, and monitoring frameworks developed by the Technical Secretariat.

Other responsibilities include ensuring optimal resource allocation and mobilisation to drive the Agenda’s priorities, as well as submitting periodic reports to the government on the overall status, achievements, and challenges of the Agenda, among others.

The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Muhammad Bello Sifawa, and the Chief of Staff, Government House, Alhaji Aminu Haliru Dikko, will serve as Co-Chairmen of the Committee, while Commissioners of Religious Affairs; Lands and Housing; Basic and Secondary Education; Local Government Affairs; Agriculture; Water Resources; Energy and Petroleum Resources; and Youth and Sports Development will serve as members.
