The 5 governors of the South-East have finally agreed to set up a joint security outfit called “Ebube Agu” to tackle insecurity in the region. The outfit is to coordinate the activities of vigilante groups in the region.
The decision was taken at their meeting in Owerri, the Imo State capital to review the current security situations in the region.
The Governors among other things condemned in strong terms terrorism and banditry in some parts of the country especially in the South-East.

Similarly, the Governors want security agencies in the South-East to be adequately funded for effectiveness.
The Ohaneze Ndigbo and other groups in the South-East have led calls for the establishment of the regional security outfit especially after states in the South-West set up the Amotekun Corps.
